You made it to word four.👏🏽
This one matters so much. Why? It’s actually the last words recorded by Jesus in the Bible.
In Revelation 22, He says this a few times. But it’s also His last words. Call it a mic drop maybe. I hope this flavors everything about you moving forward.
We call them famous last words for a reason:
Harriet Tubman:
Swing low, sweet chariot.
Da Vinci
I have offended God and mankind because my work did not reach the quality it should have.
If that’s how DaVinci felt, there is no hope for all of us regarding our work. jk!
When Groucho Marx was dying, he let out one last quip:
This is no way to live!
Hilarious.
Wilson Mizner
A priest said, “I’m sure you want to talk to me.” Mizner told the priest, “Why should I talk to you? I’ve just been talking to your boss.”
I like that one.
You can look up last words and have some fun with that.
But let’s get to the most important last words in history. Wait, I forgot something!
The second interpretation of the folded napkin! It applies I promise.
If you missed the first, you should go back! Read word 3 here.
We said that Jesus’ napkin was folded in the empty tomb. John 20:7.
Here’s the possible reason: In Jewish culture, if someone had to leave the table but wasn’t quite done with dinner, they would fold the napkin in order for the servant to know, “Don’t clear this, I’ll be back soon.”
Jesus folded His napkin like this. Come. On.
Here is word four:
He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Revelation 22:20
erchomai
I’m coming (soon).
Technically there are two Greek words here. One for I’m coming (erchomai) and one for soon (tachy)!
He is coming back again, like a thief in the night. He is coming soon for a church without spot or blemish—a church eager to do what is good in the meantime, to declare the praises of Him who called us out of darkness and into His marvelous light.
People ask all the time, are we living in the last days? I see this question a lot. I wonder about it too. But the truth is, we are living in the only days you and I have.
Paul says we have to decide to make the most of every opportunity because the days (our days) are evil.
The question to ask is this:
What in your life needs some urgency?
Maybe you’ve been coasting, sitting on an idea. You’ve yet to step into what you believed was a word from God for you.
Let there be a renewed sense of purpose.
You were created to illustrate who Jesus is—for the glory of God to be revealed.
God has paid too much for you to be too cavalier with your future. You have everything you need! He’s got you!
Let’s not waste any more time letting the things that should be dead control our lives.
We are finished with all that.
If you need some resurrection power in your life, you already have it. Why? Because He is risen!
Don’t wait another second.
Grab one of these four and put it up against any darkness, battle or idea. Let His Word wash you and lead you and bring you hope.
Let There Be
It is Finished
He is Risen
He’s Coming Soon
There may not be any words more important.
